Community Supported Agriculture

Since members cover the operating costs of the farm and also share in their risks, they have a voice in what is planted and how the farm is run.  Member participation in farming, social activities and decision-making builds a fulfilling sense of community that is often absent in society today.  We recognize that obtaining food means much more than standing in line at the supermarket!

All CSA members are required to participate in at least one of our four committees-

SOS Food Advocacy Committee – Meet with other CSA members and SOS Food volunteers to organize around food safety issues. Frequency of meetings determined by group. Helping to preserve organic standards will be a primary goal.

Site Management Committee - Set up and distribute produce (4pm-6pm), handle inquiries (6pm-8pm) or breakdown and clean-up (8pm- 10pm). At least two shifts required during the CSA season. Take this opportunity to get to know your fellow CSA members and neighbors.

Events Committee – Members organize CSA farm trips, potlucks, dances, parties, and film screenings. The committee will organize at least one event each month of the season. If you enjoy having a good time with interesting people this is the job for you!

Newsletter/Website Committee – Assist with preparing the weekly CSA newsletter or updating the website.

Our CSA has expanded its offering to include, organic olive oil and wines.
