4/9/2014 0 Comments Summer 2014 CSA AnnouncementDear Friends, Our Community Supported Agriculture season will begin Tuesday, June 3rd 2014. We will be working once again with Hepworth Farm located in New York's Hudson Valley. Hepworth Farm will be providing vegetable and fruit shares. Fruit shares include strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines, pears, apples, melons and grapes. For vegetable shares, see the chart below. In addition to produce, we will offer wild Alaskan year-round from Prime Select Seafoods of Cordova, Alaska. We will also have Stonehouse olive oils and balsamic vinegars, eggs, honey, maple syrup, wines, and dairy products. This season we will continue using a sliding scale payment structure that will offer subsidized shares to low-income households. The low-income CSA shares are reserved for those members who are receiving SNAP benefits. If you have a need for a payment plan, let us know. Your participation supports our efforts to make healthy, local, organic produce accessible to all members of our community. Make sure to like us on Facebook and see our Monday veggie alerts, announcements about CSA Smackdowns, farm trips and movie screenings. Also don't forget to sign up with Volunteer Spot as soon as you get the email link. Volunteer work is how the CSA works. Your participation helps us keep our costs at a minimum. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you! Sincerely, Lee Thatcher CSA Coordinator Sixth Street Community Center 638 E Sixth Street New York, NY 10009 (212) 677-1863 [email protected] www.sixthstreetcenter.org
